Hi, I'm Brianne Wragg.

As a teacher, my favorite class was creative writing, but I was always fighting against assessments, checklists, time crunches and at the expense of my student’s creativity, writing, and self-expression.

Since then, I have worked as a ghostwriter, copywriter, and editor, and my experiences with my own mentors have shaped my view that all kids benefit from individual writing and creative mentors and coaches.

My favorite thing is empowering my students to improve their writing, stories, poetry, and blogs, leveraging their passions and interests.

I do this through my Writers’ 45 workshops and traditional private mentoring and coaching sessions via Zoom.

What does writing and sports have in common?

Writing, like sports, is a journey of skill and perseverance.

In sports, athletes excel with a coach in their corner, guiding and challenging them at every step. Similarly, in writing, especially for young minds aged 11-16, a mentor is key to unlocking potential. A writing coach doesn’t just teach; they inspire, push boundaries, and illuminate the path to creative excellence. What is your child's passions and interests?

My focus is on making writing fun for students by connecting it to what they love. What is your child passionate about? How can those interests inspire and guide creative and writing projects? Passions and interest projects make writing more interesting and personal for them. Whether it’s stories about space and characters, journalism on their favorite sports, or articles on real-life issues, I help students write about what excites them.

My son is 13 years old and has struggled in main stream school with the way in which the curriculum is taught. Brianne from Creative Genesis has been such a gift to us. My 11 year old son enjoys writing and has already published a children's book. It took him about 3 years to finish it. He is working on his second book so when I heard that Creative Genesis had a class that was not the typical type of writing class I was excited to look into it. Creative Genesis and Brianne Wragg have been an inspiration for my ten-year-old daughter. Writing was not something she was interested in, and certainly not something she would ever choose to do. Now she looks forward with enthusiasm to her Creative Genesis sessions, writes for fun on her own, and has started a blog. Getting started with a writing mentor is easy.

How Do Mentorships Start?

The starting point for new writers is joining our Writers’ 45 for the first month free. Mentoring works when a rapport forms, and where better form creative rapport than our Writers’ 45 workshops!
Typically, before commencing a mentorship we have a one-to-one creative scope call – where we can discuss all your creative ideas and thoughts.

If we are a fit, the usual next step which is a customised ongoing process were we meet regularly every 1-2 weeks.

How Long Do Mentorships Last?

The duration of mentorships varies and is tailored to suit the nature of each student’s writing project. For ongoing projects, such as maintaining a blog or working on a serial story, the mentorship is continuous, providing sustained support and guidance as the student evolves and grows in their writing journey.

In contrast, for projects with a specific goal or deadline, such as writing a short story for a competition, the mentorship is fixed to a certain timeframe. This ensures focused and intensive guidance to help the student achieve their goal within the set period.

Ultimately, the length of the mentorship is flexible and adapts to the individual needs and objectives of each student, ensuring they receive the right amount of support for their personal writing ambitions.

How Do Mentoring & Writers' 45 Work Together?

Private mentoring and Writers’ 45 complement each other to offer a comprehensive approach to developing young writers’ and creator’s skills.

In private mentoring sessions, we focus on a deep dive into various aspects of writing, publishing, storytelling, argument and design. This includes honing specific skills, exploring writing styles, brainstorming ideas, understanding different structures, and refining editing techniques. These sessions are tailored to each student’s needs, allowing for detailed and focused improvement in their writing.

On the other hand, Writers’ 45 workshops provide a dedicated space for students to apply what they’ve learned. Here, they can spend time drafting, writing, and implementing their skills in a supportive group setting. Writers’ 45 is about putting theory into practice and giving students the time and freedom to experiment with their writing, enhancing their learning experience.

Together, private mentoring and Writers’ 45 ensure that students not only learn the intricacies of writing but also get ample opportunity to practice and perfect their craft.
